Guidelines & Policies
Guidelines:
My role is to support you through the process of doing the work. Therefore, while I am here to discuss your writing with you and may make suggestions, I will not make any edits or do your writing for you. All ideas and phrasing will be your own.
I look forward to learning about your research topic from you! I am not a subject expert in your research field; either you are an expert already, or you are in the process of becoming one. Any guidance on the academic content of your writing must be obtained from the proper authority (e.g. your faculty advisor, dissertation committee, or peer reviewers).
I have a long track record of helping writers meet their goals. However, I cannot promise you a desired outcome. I have no control over your grades, acceptance for publication, or other outcomes related to your academic writing.
I will always strive to provide ethical guidance and follow academic best practices. However, you are responsible for knowing and adhering to your college or university’s academic dishonesty/plagiarism policy, AI use policy, and any other policies related to your academic integrity.
Policies:
24-hour cancellation policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule a coaching session, please email me at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations or changes made less than 24 hours in advance will incur a $40 cancellation fee.
Draft reviews are only available for existing clients who have completed at least one coaching session. Please see the Draft Reviews page for information about what type of feedback is provided, what type of document files are accepted, pricing, and turnaround times.
Before our first coaching session, I will send you a New Client Form to fill out. Please fill out this form as completely as possible. I must receive a completed form before beginning to work with you.
I do not use AI in my work with clients, including when reviewing drafts. My responses to your writing are always 100% my own.
Payment:
Following each coaching session, I will send an invoice to the email address that I have on file for you. You are responsible for checking this email address regularly, including all spam folders. The invoice payment is due 7 days from the date sent. If you do not pay an invoice by the due date, I will pause further services until all payments are received.
For short draft reviews ($50–$100; see pricing details on the Draft Reviews page), I will send an invoice along with the completed feedback. Both will be emailed to the address that I have on file for you. You are responsible for checking this email address regularly, including all spam folders. The invoice payment is due 7 days from the date sent. If you do not pay an invoice by the due date, I will pause further services until all payments are received.
For longer draft reviews (over $100; see pricing details on the Draft Reviews page), I require 50% payment up front. When I receive your draft review request, I will respond with an estimated turnaround time and an invoice. Work will begin upon receipt of 50% of the payment. The final 50% of the payment is due 7 days from the date I send the completed feedback. If you do not pay by the due date, I will pause further services until all payments are received.
I accept payment by personal check or Zelle. If you need to pay by a different method, please send me an email to ask about other options.
